Dear Sisters and Friends,

Well, we at 1464 Falconcrest Blvd in Apopka, Florida had our own Epiphany today, only a few days after the arrival of the three Kings. Three and a half months after her accident Cathy Gorman came home for a few hours in the company of two physical therapists and an occupational therapist. The goal was  to assess the accommodations necessary to make our home handicapped accessible when Cathy comes home possibly at the end of the month. As you can imagine it was a GRAND day, full of emotion and gratitude. We were sad to see her go, but now confident that she will be able to return to us before too long.

Only a few weeks ago Cathy was hardly able to pick her head up off the pillow. This morning Cathy prayed to Julie Billiart, the foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame who herself was paralyzed for a time and in a wheel chair. "Please help me, St Julie. You know what it is like not to be able to walk. Help me walk today Give me the strength and courage. There is more I want to do in my life in Mission."  And, sure enough she took a few hops. Today with some assistance and on a walker,  Cathy moved seven feet slowly hopping on her foot during the morning therapy session.  In the afternoon she transferred to a car and came home for a few hours. It was so very wonderful to see her sitting at the head of our dining room table as we shared lunch with her caregivers. We have such respect for the healing work of these dedicated physical therapists who have helped bring Cathy back to us. Of course all of this progress would never be possible without the indomitable spirit and faith of Cathy who is determined to walk again.

On her way back to the hospital rehab center, she was able to view the progress of her dream, The Hope CommUnity Center. As they passed the property the workers were raising the trusses for the roof. Truly this was a miraculous day.

Certainly the prayers, good wishes, cards, and care for all of us have meant everything to us.  Keep them coming as we continue our journey in 2007.

with gratitude,
Teresa Mc Elwee, Gail Grimes, Ann Kendrick
