Since technology has infiltrated every aspect of human existence, digital anaesthesia has numbed human autonomy and the capacity for critical thinking. It is urgent to reinvent the OFF button that has disappeared from our lives and reclaim the right to use technology without being used by it. OFF is a global movement dedicated to combating rising technological alienation and reclaiming control over our lives — together.
THE MANIFIESTO
The OFF Manifesto is a wake-up call to citizens and authorities, highlighting the critical juncture we are reaching in our relationship with digital technology. It sets out a series of concrete measures in order to face this challenge for the future of our species. It has received support from over 300 international figures from a wide range of fields — including science, culture, business, law, health, education, and more.
Citizen mobilisations
The OFF Movement aims to activate society beyond screens. That is why we organise rallies in different cities, defending the principles that drive us in the public space, such as the right of minors to digital disconnection.
OFF Ed Tech
With a growing body of evidence calling for a cautious consideration of the impact of digital technology on children, the lack of debate regarding its deployment by schools themselves is surprising.
OFF Cafés
An OFF Coffee is not a conference or a class. It is an opportunity for people to turn off their mobile phones for a while and share their thoughts, concerns and experiences about the impact of digital technology on our daily lives.
ABOUT OFF
Individual acts of rebellion against Big Tech are happening everywhere. But to efficiently fight back and move the frontline further, we cannot afford to remain isolated.
Our ambition is to weave together local actions and shape them into a global movement. For this reason, the OFF Movement is bringing together a thriving community of dedicated individuals and organisations under a common banner. The stronger our ties, the greater our forces.
