CONTEXT

WHY NOW

Over the past two decades, a large part of the human experience have come to be mediated by digital technology. With the promise of efficiency, immediacy, convenience, and security, we have embraced the rapid adoption of technologies that we now feel are an intrinsic part of our lives. But has this promise been fulfilled?
The unprecedented rise in mental health issues —particularly among adolescents— the erosion of social bonds and the increase of unwanted loneliness, as well as the deterioration of attention spans and certain cognitive abilities, are just some of the challenges we face as a result of the rapid and uncritical adoption of these technologies.
The OFF Festival comes at a time when society needs a leading forum where this debate can take place with rigor, a diversity of voices, and a commitment to transformation.

An international event dedicated to critical reflection on the impact of digital technology on our lives and to the collective search for alternatives to hyperconnectivity. A gathering rooted in scientific evidence and current events, infused with art and culture, open to the public, and built on the premise that real change requires understanding, conversation, and community.
